Les Clefs d’Or has presented Sam Sherer, Hotel Manager at SKYCITY Hotel Auckland with an Honorary Membership.
Honorary Memberships are awarded to industry peers who continually assist and support Les Clefs d’Or. Sherer was nominated by SKYCITY’s Chief Concierge, Shaun Ryan who said Sam actively supports him, his team, and any other up and coming concierges looking to join the Society.
“Mr Sherer is certainly one of the good ones and whoever gets the chance to work with him in the future will have a reliable and supportive Hotel Manager behind them,” said Ryan.
Sherer started his career as a hotel porter and now has more than fifteen years’ hospitality experience in New Zealand, UK and Australia and has worked with major international hotel groups.
Sherer’s career started when he was 18 years old and worked as a porter at the Crowne Plaza Auckland, which influenced his humble and grounded approach as a Hotel Manager towards the concierge.
“A highly regarded hospitality leader, Sam has an outstanding career record based on strong leadership and communication skills, an in-depth understanding of the hospitality industry, and a dedicated commitment to performance and service excellence,” said Tim O’Hara, Head Concierge at QT Museum Wellington and Member of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand.

Membership diploma at SKYCITY.
Sherer works as Hotel Manager at SKYCITY Hotel Auckland, one of New Zealand’s leading four-plus-star hotels, for two years. During his time at SKYCITY he has been an avid supporter of the Concierge and of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand.
Having hosted numerous Les Clefs d’Or Auckland meetings and attending the Society’s “Meet the Region” hotel conference tradeshows to show his support, Sherer’s much work is much appreciated by the Society.
His biggest contribution, however, is his continued encouragement and support of up-and-coming Concierges in his team, which he encourages to pursue their aspirations to join Les Clefs d’Or.
Sherer was nominated and voted by Les Clefs d’Or members to receive an Honorary Membership earlier this year at Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand’s 24th Annual General Meeting.
